Alan Bennett’s play, Habeas Corpus is getting a new production coming to Menier Chocolate Factory this winter.
A farcical comedy of ill-manners, Habeas Corpus follows the antics of the Wicksteed home, where family, friends and the quest for sexual pleasures of the body (‘corpus’) are the ruling passions. Through an escapade of mistaken identities and carnal encounters, one motto holds fast: “He whose lust lasts, lasts longest.”
The cast includes Jasper Britton (Little Shop of Horrors, Pack of Lies), alongside Kirsty Besterman (Macbeth, They Drink it in the Congo, Othello), Katie Bernstein (The Play That Goes Wrong, Mrs Henderson Presents),
Multi-award winning playwright Alan Bennett is also a screenwriter, actor and author. Big screen productions include The History Boys and The Lady in the Van. On-stage productions include Talking Heads, The Madness of George III and The History Boys.
Director Patrick Marber joins Richard Hudson on Set and Costume Design, Richard Howell on Lighting Design and Adam Cork on Music and Sound Design.
Habeas Corpus is on at the Menier Chocolate Factory. Previews open on 3rd December and the play runs til 27th February 2022.
