Written by Al Smith (nominated Most Promising Playwright at Evening Standard Theatre Awards) and directed by Hamish Pirie (Royal Court Associate Director), Rare Earth Mettle is now opening after being postponed by the pandemic – and we can’t wait!
Starring two Dean Street icons, Jaye Griffiths & Racheal Ofori, the play is a brutally comic exploration of risk, delusion, and power.
“You don’t tell an American to switch off her light; you build her a better light bulb.”
Three worlds collide on a Bolivian salt flat, where a leading British doctor with a radical plan to save the NHS and a Silicon Valley billionaire with a radical plan to halt climate change, meet outside an abandoned train on a salt flat in Bolivia. The indigenous community, who have preserved the land for generations, believe both visitors have propositions that could change their futures.
Rare Earth Mettle opens for previews tonight at the Royal Court Theatre and runs until 18th December 2021
