Poppy Lee Friar stars in a new stage adaptation of Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning classic, To Kill A Mockingbird.

The script has been reimagined by Aaron Sorkin – who famously wrote The West Wing – this time following the story of 1930s Alabama lawyer, Atticus Finch, as the protagonist, rather than his daughter.

Poppy Lee Friar joins the cast as Mayella Ewell, with Atticus Finch being played by Rafe Spall, Harry Attwell playing Mr Cunningham and Amanda Boxer playing Mrs Henry Dubose.

The production is directed by Bartlett Sher, with Miriam Buether on Set, Ann Roth on Costume, Scott Lehrer on Sound and Jennifer Tipton on Lighting.

The show has previously been on Broadway since 2018. Winning a Tony Award for Best Actress, a Drama Desk Award and an Outer Critics Circle Award. It also premiered to fantastic reviews with Rolling Stone calling it ‘unforgettable and unmissable’. The New York Times called it ‘beautiful, elegaic, satisfying, even exhilarating’. We’re sure its premiere in the UK will garner just as much acclaim.

To Kill A Mockingbird opens at Gielgud Theatre on 10th March and runs til 13th August. Tickets are available here.
