New Sky Cinema production, Save the Cinema premieres starring two Dean Street Voices, Tom Felton and Susan Wokoma.
Save the Cinema is the story of Liz Evans, a woman from Carmarthen, South West Wales, who starts a campaign in the 1990s to save the local Art Deco cinema, Lyric Cinema, when it is threatened with demolition by developers. Inspired by a true story, it’s directed by Sara Sugarman, with Piers Ashworth writing the screenplay.
A touching tale where ‘The end result is the sort of film people always say ‘they just don’t make any more’, a modestly funny, gently uplifting tale of a community coming together to do a good thing.’ the Daily Mail said. Nation Cymru called it ‘a gentle antidote to a weird, wild and wintry world.’
A heartfelt story about a community coming together and triumphing is just the kind of cheerful story we could all do with hearing in January.
