William Ash stars in Nora at the Manchester Royal Exchange.
The play is a distilled contemporary retelling of Henrik Ibsen’s play A Doll’s House across three pivotal decades, 1918, 1968, and 2018. In each decade, Nora Helmer finds herself close to breaking point in her home life.
A Doll’s House initially shocked audiences with its portrayal of female married life. Now this adapation, by award-winning writer Stef Smith, is rooted in the women’s rights movement and explores the restraints still binding women even as modern society progresses.
Nora: A Doll’s House runs from 4th March – 2nd April 2022 at The Royal Exchange Theatre.
